TreeID ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the TreeID mobile application ("App").
Photos and Images: When you use TreeID to identify a tree, you take or select a photo. This image is sent to our AI service for identification purposes only. We do not permanently store your photos on our servers. Photos are processed in real-time and discarded after the identification is complete.
Identification History: Your identification results (tree name, species, and related information) are stored locally on your device using an on-device database. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to share it.
Usage Analytics: We may collect anonymous usage data such as app opens, feature usage, and crash reports to improve the App experience. This data is aggregated and does not personally identify you.
Subscription Information: If you purchase a Pro subscription, payment processing is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect, store, or have access to your payment details (credit card numbers, billing addresses, etc.).
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. Your photos are sent to our AI processing service (powered by OpenRouter/OpenAI) solely for identification purposes. These third-party AI services have their own privacy policies governing data handling during processing.
All identification history and settings are stored locally on your device. We use industry-standard security practices to protect data transmitted to our identification API, including HTTPS encryption for all network communications.
TreeID requests access to your camera and photo library solely for the purpose of capturing or selecting images for tree identification. These permissions can be revoked at any time through your device settings.
TreeID is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
Since your data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it. You can delete your identification history at any time within the app, or by uninstalling the app. For any data processing concerns, please contact us.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
